State of Black New Orleans ULGNO has begun collecting data to resurrect its annual State of Black New Orleans publication. The publication provides a prospectus on quality of life of African Americans in the New Orleans area, and examines the areas of economics, health, education, social justice and civic engagement. The State of Black New Orleans Equality Index was released in October comparing blacks and whites along major socioeconomic variables. The State of Black New Orleans will augment the Equality Index with essays, editorials and research by local scholars and lend an important perspective to the discussion of New Orleans’ recovery and rebuilding. |
