Frequently Asked Questions 1. What services does the Center provide? The center provides free one-on-one business counseling, training programs, loan application assistance, SBA 8A certification and SDB (Small Disadvantaged Business) certification application assistance and technical assistance. 2. Is an appointment necessary for business counseling? Yes, you must schedule an appointment to meet with a Counselor. To schedule an appointment, please call (504) 589-2838. 3. How long does an appointment last? The initial appointment will last approximately one (1) hour. Subsequent appointments will last one-half (1/2) hour. 4. Are fees charged for services? Unlimited business counseling is available free of charge to the client however, there may be fees associated with some training programs and/or technical assistance. Call the center for more information. 5. Are business grants available through the Center? No, the Center does not offer grants or grant assistance. 6. Does the Center provide services to male business owners? Yes, the Center services all clients from an eight (8) parish region. The parishes included in our service delivery area are Orleans, Jefferson, St. Tammany, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, St. Charles, St. John the Baptist and Terrebonne. 7. I am not currently in business but I want to start a business, can the Center assist me? Yes, the Center assists business start-ups as well as existing businesses. Micro-enterprises (businesses with 5 or less employees) are our specialty. 8. What type of technical assistance is available? Technical assistance is tailored to the individual business and its needs through evaluation at intake. 9. May I email a question to a Counselor?
