Destiny & Mommy Day My name is Sharon and I have a 3 year old daughter whose name is Destiny. Destiny will be attending Incarnate Word Head Start in the Fall of 2012. We got an idea to have what we call “Destiny & Mommy Day” in which we try to do things together as a family. When we do something on this particular day, it is all about me and Destiny. I am a single parent and I think it is very important to bond with your kid(s). The activities we chose to do were 1.) watch a movie, and 2.) read a book. We went to the Entergy IMAX Theatre to see “The Last Reef: Cities Beneath the Sea in 3D”. The movie’s run time was only 30 minutes but it was awesome! It was very educational about life of species beneath the sea and how it related to the importance of the coral reef to the ocean. My daughter enjoyed the 3D cinematography and so did I. We were amazed at all of the colorful creatures and their different shapes and sizes. But more importantly she was a happy camper because she was with Mommy! The expression on her little face and her demeanor said to me “Mommy can we do it again?” I believe doing things like the activities we have done consistently and throughout our lives will also instill in her the value and importance of doing it with a family of her own someday. I just want to say thank you and to commend the PIC Team for this Summer Resource Guide, it is great! I have gained a wealth of information from it. Congratulations Stewart family!
