Mission
The Office of Workforce Development’s mission is to build core competencies that produce a common set of knowledge and skills for career success, and provide a foundation for job seekers to access a full range of occupations with livable wages.
Objectives
- To provide job placement services in a cost-effective and efficient manner for job seekers and employers.
- To empower job seekers to achieve long-term goals and reach a state of self-sufficiency.
- To assist employers in meeting present and future workforce needs.
The Program
Job Seekers
The Office of Workforce Development Job Assistance Program offers job seekers across Southeastern Louisiana intensive case management, job search assistance, financial literacy training, resume building, business etiquette, interview techniques, computer skills and other training designed to improve employability skills needed to compete in an aggressive workforce.
Employers
For employers, the program provides customized empowerment training designed to strengthen recruitment efforts, fill vacant positions and increase employee morale and productivity. The program also offers employers professional services such as administration of pre-employment screenings and employee assessments including behavior, skills, capacities and values assessments.
Using an intake and evaluation process, the program seeks unemployed or underemployed individuals who meet the following eligibility requirements:
1. Must be age 17 and above
2. Social Security Card
3. Proof of residence
4. Possess a valid state issued picture Identification Card/Driver’s License or Passport
Note: For specific programs, additional documents not mentioned above may be required.
