College Track

College Track

Urban League College Track (ULCT) is an afterschool college preparatory program that works to increase high school graduation, college eligibility, college enrollment and graduation rates in under-resourced communities.  ULCT firmly believes that access to higher education is a sustainable form of community development and economic empowerment.
The harsh reality is that low-income students of color in our communities are seldom prepared to go to college. In fact, only 50% of African American students in New Orleans finish high school.  ULCT students are defying these odds and becoming a legacy to inspire and empower future generations of college bound students.

ULCT is an after-school and summer program that provides academic support and financial incentives to motivated students to achieve their dream of a college education. Urban League College Track guides students’ success in high school and through four years of college.  Our program also provides opportunities for leadership development, enrichment, and guidance through the college application and selection processes.

To be considered students should submit a online application and supporting documentation :

  • Student Application
  • Parent/Guardian Information and release and consent form
  • Two letters of recommendation (at least one from a teacher)
  • Report card (most recent) and high school transcript
  • 8th grade LEAP scores and/or 9th grade ILEAP scores (ELA and Math Strand scores)
  • ACT EXPLORE/ ACT PLAN scores

Student Success through Nurturing Staff and Caring Volunteers

Emphasizing high standards, ULCT professionals and volunteers are the primary educators. When students feel overwhelmed ULCT educators encourage and support.  When students are not performing to their potential ULCT educators motivate through tough love. Adding to the ULCT success model, the personal element in the relationships formed, between volunteers, staff and students is essential.
